karinaboese > The Coffee Challenge...01/12/09 (Day 272) The Challenge: Show us your interpretation of the word, "Coffee." The Participants: Kre8ive, John (300m), Bill Pador, The Curious Camel, Creative Deviance, Johnloguk, Lady Kate, MyKey, Trevlan, Fotoeffects, Hillary, and myself. The Result: Coffee Time Nothing fancy from me today... just 3 giant empty coffee mugs. I miss my best girlfriends. We are in 3 different parts of the world now. One is in Qatar, two are in Indonesia. Eventho' if we were still living in one place, I know it wouldn't be the same anymore. I guess I just miss the old times, but life goes on.
karinaboese > First Edition Sun. September 21, 2008 (DAY 160) Finally!!! After 10 years dreaming about it, I printed my first photography book. YAY!! This is the first proof from Blurb. Not really sure about the quality of the print. Some of my photos look canvasy? Maybe that's just my photo files that suck. Since this is for personal use only, I'm a happy camper! NOTE: The cover photo was taken in Carita Beach, Indonesia. Since Bill asked, here are my thoughts about Blurb: * The program is very user friendly. Easy to move stuff around (photos or pages) * I ordered 7x7 inches, 40 page and I got 70 photos in there. * Love the quality of their 'matte' (not glosy) hardcover image wrap for $24.95 * I also ordered their glosy softcover for exactly the same book. It's nice & a lot cheaper ($12.95) * Looks professional enough for me. * The colors look great! That's very important. * You do want to TRIPLE check everything (wording, spacing, composition, etc) before you order. * I don't know why some of my shots came out/printed like on the canvas. I wonder if that's something to do with Picasa processing or their printer. Will see if it happens on the second edition. * One of the photo, the sunflower, looks over saturated. It doesn't show on my computer screen, but it does on the book. Again, I think that's my mistake on post-processing. So you want to be careful on that. * Overall? so far... I love it! Next time, I'll be extra carefull on my post-processing & probably will switch from Picasa to something better. Picasa is very easy & fast but I read (and Bill informed me) that it is one of the worst free program out there. I hate to do a lot of post-processing... but I think I will have to switch to a new software soon.

October 28, 2008 (DAY 197) Taken on 10/27/08 I'm not Joe Rosenthal - Associated Press ...but I really like my version of his famous shot "Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima" a historic photograph taken on Feb.23, 1945 His photo is (maybe?) the most reproduced photograph in the history of photography I added some effects on LR (see keywords)on post processing. Click here to see my original shot. Sorry, I'm cheating today... I'm still working on my weekend's shots. I decided to put this one up for today's daily. It is a very moving image for me, the meaning and the stories behind it are priceless & timeless. Update re: Bill Pador's comment: YES!!! LOL!

I joined Mike B & Rob at the park... It was very foggy & very quiet. I didn't get any good bird pictures, but it was fun. Click here to see original color of this shot.
