karinaboese > Be Happy
Tue. October 21, 2008 (DAY 190)

I would like to dedicate this shot for my hubby,
who always makes me happy.

Tiny info:
* set up these penguins on the glass
* they are my hubby's Linux-penguins collection
* put the flashlight underneat one of them
* the line on the left side is a scratch on the glass
* too lazy to do anything to get rid of the line on pp

I just want to be happy tonight...
and not worry about anything.
I hope you guys do the same!

There is  another color version for this shot;
I put a green color paper on top of the flash light.
karinaboese > Silent
Tue. June 30, 2009 (Day 37)

Everybody has their own burdens, their grief that they carry with them.
I often wished I could help somebody a lot more...but I couldn't.
Today, I'm sending my love and prayers to my late childhood friend- up there.

Her last email to me was 03/25/2009:
"...kakak gw pgn deeh di foto2 ma lw lg...
ingeet kah qta foto2 di kota tua? ingetkah lagu the final countdown? europe?
lagu kesukaanmu kan? doakan saja aq sembuh kakak ayien..."

She wanted me to take a picture of her in the old town,
...and she still remembered my favorite song back in 80's.
Tami, you now can rest in peace.

"We're leaving together, but still it's farewell..
and maybe we'll come back, to earth who can tell...
I guess there's no one to blame, we're leaving ground...
Will thing ever be the same again... It's the final countdown.

We're heading for Venus and still we stand tall
Cause maybe they've seen us, and welcome us all
With so many light years to go and things to be found...
I'm sure we all miss her so"
-Europe, The Final Countdown-

Tiny info:
* SB600 on the left- top corner.
* Converted to monochrome & added contrast in LR.
* No, this isn't a nude shot.
karinaboese > Tiramisu
Mon. March 23, 2009 (Day 342)

Hubby brought dinner home tonight. He surprised me with a Tiramisu for desert!
My favorite cake in the world!!! Aaaw.. he loves me. Thank you, my love.

Happy birthday to my father-in-law!
I'll eat this whole cake to celebrate your big 65th birthday, Dad!

Tiny info:
*  played w/ SB-600 tonight.
* crop in a lot from original shot.
* should've changed the lens to a wider one.
* na... I'm too tired to fix it. There you have it.
karinaboese > First Full Moon
Fri. January 9, 2009 (Day 269)

Tonight is the first (almost) full moon of the year.
This shot was taken from the parking lot when I left the office at 6pm.

We had dinner with the Garza family at El Vaquero.
Chips, salsa, good margarita, and great company... What else could you ask for?

Tiny info:
* Click here to see the original shot.
* Added Matt's Lomo Effect & Edge Darkening on LR.
* Cropped the left side.
karinaboese > Ready for Another Beer
Thu. June 19, 2008 (Day 68)

I want something fresh, something yummy, something that makes you go oooouh... (does it work?)

Gotta go now! It's 95F in Houston!!!

Quick note:
The Watermelon shot by banjon inspired me today. Thanks Rich & Barb :)
karinaboese > Hybrid Tulip
Tue. April 29, 2008 (Day 17)

Background story:
I brought home one tulip & one rose from the bouquet. I had to snap this photo quickly before the sun disappeared. The Tulip is in a styrofoam cup on the trunk of my car. A rose is in the other side of the cup. The background is the reflection of the sky in the rear window.

Another shot of this tulip & the rose

2nd Contender for April 29, 2008 Daily Photo

I received a beautiful flower bouquet today & they really made my day. Thank you my Smarty-Pants' Friend!!! I really appreciate you, Joyce K.!
karinaboese > Spreading Coreopsis Seeds
Wed. May 7, 2008 (Day 25)

I'm still obsessed with yesterday's wasp shot.
This one is from a different angle. I could see that the focus happened to be on its wing. Fortunately, this one caught the falling seeds in mid air! This bee was working so hard going from flower to flower. He (or she?) was really digging into the dead flowers. If you see yesterday's shot, this flower is the one on the right.

Now I know EXACTLY how my Coreopsis are self-seeding!

Is it a bee? a wasp? a hornet? or...?

Jesse: yes - all of the colors in this shot are real/natural. Thank you!
karinaboese > Under Pressure
Tue. April 14, 2009 (Day 364)

I cannot sit still... thinking about what to shoot tomorrow.

Countdown to day 365... Today is 364!!!!

Thanks for the pressure, guys. Yeah, you... you know who you are ;)
OK seriously, THANK YOU so much for all your comments & checking daily on my 365 Project.
I've been having a lot of fun & it is a great pleasure to share it with you.

Tiny info:
* Long exposure f/22 - 30sec. Aperture priority, no tripod (camera sat on the table).
* Black curtain on the background; a piece of torn paper taped on the curtain.
* See the 2nd contender under Alternative gallery.
* Added a bit of higher contrast on LR- that's it.
karinaboese > Brainless Fish
Sun. August 23, 2009 (Day 91)

This creature is probably the stupidest one in this world,
but I think they are one of the coolest looking ones!

Nova, a friend of mine from Jakarta is in town for work.
I took her to the hot Houston zoo today. Yes... it was stinking hot!
I am wondering if my brain was working when I decided to go to the zoo.

See more shots under Animal, Bugs, etc gallery.

Tiny facts about Jellyfish:
* They have been around for more than 650 million years; older than dinosaurs & sharks.
* They don't have brain or any specialized functional system.
* They rely on nerve cells to help them move and react to food or danger.
* only 5% of the body of a jellyfish is solid matter, 95% water.
* It's not actualy a fish, but an invertebrate from the Coelenterate phylum.
