Thu. June 19, 2008 (Day 68)

Quick note:
The Watermelon shot by banjon inspired me today. Thanks Rich & Barb :)

I want something fresh, something yummy, something that makes you go oooouh... (does it work?)

Gotta go now! It's 95F in Houston!!!
karinaboese > Something about The 8 Ball
Tue. July 1, 2008 (Day 80)

I've been trying to understand CS3 all night & got very frustrated! It made me want to shoot something REEEAAALLY basic. So I set my camera on the tripod, set it on Bulb (f/22, ISO 200), put the hot-shoe on one Flash (to be used as a fill in flash), used my remote to trigger the shot, turned off the overhead light - used another flash on my hand... flashed it (on me) then (did it 3 times) release the shutter...
Voila!

Need to find out how to make the flashes stronger (to make my twins come out solid), but I think it's good enough for a midnight shot at this moment.

Kurt - I'm not a big fan of flash either... but my choices were out to the backyard and get eaten by mosquitos, or play in the house :)
karinaboese > Spreading Coreopsis Seeds
Wed. May 7, 2008 (Day 25)

I'm still obsessed with yesterday's bee shot.
This one is from a different angle. I could see that the focus happened to be on its wing. Fortunately, this one caught the falling seeds in mid air! This bee was working so hard going from flower to flower. He (or she?) was really digging into the dead flowers. If you see my yesterday's bee shot, this flower is the one on the right.

Now I know EXACTLY how my Coreopsis are self-seeding!

Is it a bee? a wasp? or...?

Jesse: yes - all of the colors in this shot are real/natural. Thank you! :)
karinaboese > Hybrid Tulip from Joyce K.
Tue. April 29, 2008 (Day 17)

Background story:
I brought home one tulip & one rose from the bouquet. I had to snap this photo quickly before the sun disappeared. The Tulip is in a styrofoam cup on the trunk of my car. A rose is in the other side of the cup. The background is the reflection of the sky in the rear window.

Another shot of this tulip & the rose

2nd Contender for April 29, 2008 Daily Photo

I received a beautiful flower bouquet today & they really made my day. Thank you my Smarty-Pants' Friend!!!
I really appreciate you!
karinaboese > Jalapeach Jelly on Cream Cheese
Sun. May 25, 2008 (Day 43)

We went to friends' house for BBQ & had a great time. It was the first time I had this dip. Fischer Wieser Jalapeach Jelly on Cream Cheese. It was YUMMY!

karinaboese > Baby Gator
Sun. June 15, 2008 (Day 64)

We went to Brazos Bend State Park for weekend stroll with Angel. There were a few alligators, but this baby one decided to get sun bath on the path. I zoomed in with my 28-200mm and if you look at his face, it looks like he's smilling at me... with one of these in his mind:

"Haha! You cannot cross this path!"
"Hmmm... that looks like a nice leg for supper"
"Should I pick this chick or those 3 on the back?"

I really wanted to move closer, but with that kind of eyes & smile, I can't tell how fast he can get to my leg. We had to get off the path, and walk on the dry swamp below the trail to get around the gator.

I put the people on the background for comparison purpose. So we can see how big the gator actually is.

Other shots of the lake full of algae & wild life:

 One big family of Duck

Dragonfly with algae on the background

Different angle of the baby gator

 Green Lake?

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY Y'ALL!
karinaboese > Take Off
Mon. June 16, 2008 (Day 65)

Okay... I just HAVE TO put this one as my Daily's. This is from our little weekend stroll at Brazos Bend State Park. I really like the composition but...

TomL - this one is for you.
Why...? Because I know I cannot get the details on it wings. I always admire those bird photos in your gallery; how you can get their wings span really sharp & great details.

Well, I can't. I'm slow... and I blame my lens too ;)
For this shot, I got my camera set up at the wrong speed too. Oh well...

Kathleen, I post my EXIF from now on. Thank you much all!
karinaboese > How should I display my paws, mommy?
Mon. June 2, 2008 (Day 51)

Didn't get a chance to take any shot during daylight. Tonight, I put the camera on the floor while Angel & I were playing.
karinaboese > What A Day
Thu. May 29, 2008 (Day 47)

I had a loooong day.....

Started with saying this to my husband:
"Today is your big birthday, my dear! Happy Birthday!!!"

Continued by:
"I'm sorry that somebody rear-ended your car on your way to your birthday lunch"

Finished with:
"Mmmmmm... steak & cold beer..."

Personal thoughts:
Today, I was so glad to see my husband standing on the side of the tollroad, surrounding by 3 police cars, 2 ambulance trucks, 3 wreckers. I was just so glad to see him there... What a birthday, dear!

I think Texas should pass the bill for 'no cellphone while driving' - like California? People shouldn't texting or playing with their cellphone while driving.

FOOT NOTE: Thanks, everybody!!! It was my husband's birthday - and yes, he is OK sor far.
